More Hawaii

One very, very early morning we got up at 4:30 so we could hike to the Makapu'u Summit for the sunrise.
Here I am pointing to one of the islands you can see from up there.
More sites from up top.  Beautiful.
The next day we headed to the Polynesian Cultural Center.  It was worth every penny!

You can visit the different polynesian cultures and see demonstrations and shows.  They have a canoe parade which was wonderful!  Each island was represented and they performed their native dances.

There was even a quilt shop where you could buy kits of traditional Hawaiian designed quilts and wall hangings.  I bought 2 kits.  (wink).

There were wall hangings in a lot of the Hawaiian buildings.  Many of the patterns depict plants and flowers.

I tried poi for the first time.  Love it!

At the end of the day they had a huge luau for us!

Ok, I'm off to take a walk, more later!
