Have a great day!

EverBank Field

Our stadium has been without a naming rights partner since 2006.  Today the Jaguars announced a partnership with EverBank, a locally owned bank here in Jacksonville.  Our stadium finally has a new name - EverBank Field.  Has kind of a nice ring to it I think!

If you're ever in Jacksonville during football season, stop by for a game.  We'd love to have you.

Back To Work and Football Begins

Well, it's back to work tomorrow.  I'm actually ready to go back.  For those of you that follow football, our training camp starts next week.  Players report on Thursday and our first camp is Friday.  I'm very excited to get the season started.  Every year is the same, there is an excitement in the air that this year could be THE year.

I'm also ready to get Summer over with.  As I type this, the temperature is 95 and feels like 102 and it's 5:30 p.m.  We've had the hottest, driest Summer on record.  I hate hot.  I love Fall and Winter because it's cool/cold.  You know, football and quilting weather.  Yay!

I was able to take some pictures of my little wildflower/sunflower garden we planted this year.  Have a great Sunday and a great week everyone!

P.S.  Forgive the yard that has died.  We had a serious freeze this winter and lost our yard for the first time in 15 years.

The Ya-Ya Table Topper

Yay!  The commissioned table topper for my friend Teresa is DONE!

I love how it turned out.  Thanks for the beautiful quilting Joanie!

Vacation - Jekyll Island

Day 2 of my mini-vacation - Jekyll Island, Georgia.

If you've never been to Coastal Georgia, you're missing out.  It's really a very pretty area.  As you drive out to the island you pass a vast marsh area.  In the middle of this marsh is the VOR for the Brunswick, Jekyll Island, St. Simons area.  This is a navigation aid for all aircraft from small private planes up to major airlines.

Entrance to Jekyll Island.

Just some more beautiful photos of the island.

Enjoy your day!

A Little Vacation and Space

I took a few vacation days before the start of football season.  Because we only live about 2 1/2 hours from the Kennedy Space Center, we headed down yesterday morning.

It was fun.  We hadn't been there in about 15 or so years.  We took the bus tour that took us to and around the VAB building,

the Saturn V Center (where they now store one of the big Saturn V rockets that took our astronauts to the moon), and the International Space Station Center (forgot to take pictures because I was watching the men in the clean room get their stuff ready for space).

I wish more Americans would come and visit this wonderful place.  We took space walks and trips to the moon for granted and now our Shuttle program no longer exists.  My husband grew up in Melbourne, Fl which is just down the road from the space center, during the 60's and 70's.  He told me stories of how America was so proud of itself and came together to do something big.  Boy, did we ever do something big.  He said people were so proud of living there and it was a very exciting place and time to be.  He seemed sad to see it all now and to know our space program is not being funded.  I'm sad as well.   Maybe in the next decade someone will see the value of the need to explore and we will do something big once again.  I can only hope.

A Little Project

When I bought my new car, it failed to come with a back cargo cover.  So, my husband, being the creative/thrifty being he is, suggested I just make one.  He kind of explained what he was talking about and I was off to use my new flip flop material I had bought during the North Georgia Shop Hop.

I ended up spending a total of $15.00 rather than $138.  Not to mention it's just fun.

Make it a great day!

Great Weekend

I love weekends!  This weekend I was lucky enough to attend a 60th birthday party for a very good friend.  What a great evening - drinks, dancing, good food and good friends!

Life is too short not to dance.  If you have the opportunity, do it.  Don't worry about what people might say or how you might look, just dance.  You will be surprised at how great you feel.

Ok, back to work.  Have a great day!

Weekend

We're closing the offices today at 3:00 p.m. so I will be able to begin my wonderful three day weekend early!  Yay!

I PLAN on doing a lot of embroidery this weekend.  I have some towels to get done for my friend "T".  NOW, whether that actually happens or not, we'll see.  Just kidding T, they'll get done.

What are your plans for the 4th?  Barbeque, fireworks, baseball?  We watch a lot of racing this weekend in my house.  Indy Car, Grand-Am, Nascar.  All fun races to watch.

The Ya-Ya quilt has been sent to Joanie for quilting and I'm waiting on the t-shirts for another two quilts.  Remember the one I made for the coach's assistant in Atlanta?  Well, she's ordered more.  I love making these.  I really need to make one of my own because god knows I have enough Jaguars' t-shirts.  At least eight years worth.

Ok, gotta run along and get some work done before 3:00 p.m.  Have a safe and Happy Fourth of July!
